Final Mission
At 1958 hrs on 26th August 1944, ME650 took off from East Kirkby on operations to Konigsberg. They were shot down by Maj. Hörst Gunther Höfele of III./NJG 1, over Skarrild, Denmark (some 8km NE of Sonder Felding), where they are buried in the local churchyard. The crew were on their 12th operation, whilst the aircraft itself had 29 previous operations to her name.
